Prof. Antonio De Maio, IEEE Fellow, University of Naples Federico II, Italy

Antonio De Maio (S'01-A'02-M'03-SM'07-F'13) was born in Sorrento, Italy, on June 20, 1974. He received the Dr.Eng. degree (with honors) and the Ph.D. degree in information engineering, both from the University of Naples Federico II, Naples, Italy, in 1998 and 2002, respectively. Currently, he is a Professor with the University of Naples Federico II. His research interest lies in the field of statistical signal processing, with emphasis on radar detection and optimization theory applied to radar signal processing. Dr. De Maio is a Fellow member of IEEE and the recipient of the 2010 IEEE Fred Nathanson Memorial Award as the young (less than 40 years of age) AESS Radar Engineer 2010 whose performance is particularly noteworthy as evidenced by contributions to the radar art over a period of several years, with the following citation for "robust CFAR detection, knowledge-based radar signal processing, and waveform design and diversity".

Prof. George Z.H. Zhu, FASME, SMIEEE, York University, Canada

Zheng Hong (George) Zhu is the Director of the Space Engineering Design Laboratory at the Lassonde School of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering. His research interests encompass various topics, including the dynamics and control of tethered spacecraft systems, electrodynamic tether propulsion and space debris removal, as well as space robotics and advanced spacecraft materials.

Dr. Zhu is the Fellow of Canadian Academy of Canada, Engineering Institute of Canada, Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering (CSME), and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He is also the Associate Fellow of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), College Member of Royal Society of Canada, and Academician of International Academy of Astronautics.

Professor Atsushi Inoue, Kyushu Institute of Tech, Japan

Professor Atsushi Inoue has extensive experiences in both academe and industries in USA and Japan, such as Motorola Inc. (USA), Hitachi Ltd. (Japan), and Carnegie Mellon CyLab Japan (Japan & USA).  He is closely familiar with many programming langues, open source technologies (LINUX), and a single board computer (Raspberry Pi).

As a full professor, he has taught and advised students in Computer Science, Information Systems, and Data Sciences at all levels from fundamental undergraduate to advanced graduate by taking research driven and hands-on, experiential approaches.  He has advised numerous students and many of them are successful in their career development, e.g. college faculty, nationally recognized consulting firms, and global enterprises — Battelle Memorial Institute, Raytheon, Caterpillar, Lockheed-Martin, Emaars (UAE), Microsoft, Facebook, Adobe, to name a few.  He has held several fellowships and visiting professorships at reputable research institutes in France (LIP6), USA (UC Berkeley & CMU), Kazakhstan (KBTU & KazNU) and Japan (Lab. for Intn'l Fuzzy Engineering, Osaka Prefecture University & Chuo University).  He is active and well-recognized in relevant international academic societies in the world for his technical contributions and executive leaderships.

Currently, he is focusing on his digital entrepreneurship in Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain while leading Intelligent Informatics/Innovative Integratica Initiative (I3).  He is enthusiastically promoting SBC, e.g. Raspberry Pi as a platform of PoC and MVP for various digital entrepreneurship and that of hands-on, experiential learning.

He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Cincinnati (USA).  He also received training and was successfully certified in Information Security at Carnegie Mellon University (USA), and in Entrepreneurship at the University of Florida (USA).

Prof. Silvia Liberata Ullo, IEEE Italy Section - AES Chapter Chair, University of Sannio, Benevento, Italy

Prof. Silvia Liber is an IEEE Senior Member and has been serving as the Industry Liaison for the IEEE Joint ComSoc/VTS Italy Chapter since 2018 (https://iob.boards.comsoc.org/chapter-liaisons/). She is also the National Referent for FIDAPA BPW Italy Science and Technology Task Force from 2019 to 2021. In addition, she has been a member of the Image Analysis and Data Fusion Technical Committee (IADF TC) of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) since 2020.

Prof. Silvia Liber graduated with honors in Electronic Engineering from the University of Naples (Italy) in 1989, and completed her M.Sc. in Management at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA) in 1992 after being awarded an ITALTEL scholarship in 1990. That same year, she was honored with the "Marisa Bellisario" prize by the association for being one of the best female engineering graduates in Italy.

Since 2004, Prof. Silvia Liber has been actively involved as a researcher and teacher at University of Sannio, Benevento (Italy). She is a member of Academic Senate and PhD Professors’ Board, where she teaches courses such as Signal Theory and Processing, Telecommunication Networks, and Optical & Radar Remote Sensing for Ph.D. students.

With over 80 authored research papers, co-authored book chapters, editorship experience with two books along with serving as Associate Editor for renowned journals like IEEE JSTARS, MDPI Remote Sensing, IET Image Processing , Springer Arabian Journal of Geosciences , Recent Advances in Computer Science & Communications; Prof.Silvia’s extensive skill set extends into guest editing multiple special issues as well.

Her research interests include signal processing, sensor networks, smart grids, remote sensing, satellite data analysis, machine learning and quantum ML, radar systems.

She has been the promoter of the Agreement between the University of Sannio and many companies and universities, among these she promoted the MOU with the East Point College of Engineering and Technology in Bengaluru.

Prof. Ram Bilas Pachori, IEEE Senior Member, IIT Indore, India

Ram Bilas Pachori received the B.E. degree with honours in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Technological University, Bhopal, India, in 2001, the M.Tech. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur, India, in 2003 and 2008, respectively.  

Before joining the IIT Indore, India, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Charles Delaunay Institute, University of Technology of Troyes, France (2007-2008) and an Assistant Professor at the Communication Research Center, International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, India (2008-2009). He was an Assistant Professor (2009-2013) and an Associate Professor (2013-2017) at the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Indore, where he has been a Professor since 2017. He is also associated with the Center for Advanced Electronics, IIT Indore. He was a Visiting Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering, Modeling, Electronics and Systems Engineering, University of Calabria, Rende, Italy, in July 2023; Faculty of Information & Communication Technology, University of Malta, Malta, from June 2023 to July 2023; Neural Dynamics of Visual Cognition Lab, Free University of Berlin, Germany, from July 2022 to September 2022; School of Medicine, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Taylor’s University, Malaysia, from 2018 to 2019. Previously, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Intelligent Systems Research Center, Ulster University, Londonderry, UK, in December 2014.  

His research interests include signal and image processing, biomedical signal processing, non-stationary signal processing, speech signal processing, brain-computer interface, machine learning, and artificial intelligence and the internet of things in healthcare. He is an Associate Editor of Electronics Letters, IEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering, Computers and Electrical Engineering, and Biomedical Signal Processing and Control, and an Editor of IETE Technical Review journal. He is a Fellow of IETE, IEI, and IET.

Prof. Takis Mathiopoulos, IEEE Life Senior Member, University of Athens, Greece

P. Takis Mathiopoulos received the Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece, in 1979, the Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree with a specialization in Microwaves and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Ottawa with a specialization in Digital Telecommunications, in 1989, both in Canada.

Since 2014, he holds the position of Professor of Digital Communications, in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of Athens (UoA). From 2000 - 2014, with the Institute for Space Applications and Remote Sensing (ISARS) at the National Observatory of Athens, in Penteli, Athens, Greece, first as its Director (2000-2004) and then Director of Research. From 1989-2003, he was with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of British Columbia (UBC), in Canada, holding the rank of Professor from 1999-2003.

Over the years, he has supervised 3 groups (at UBC, ISARS and UoA) with R&D activities in the field of “Wireless Communications”, with emphasis on research dealing with physical layer problems for both satellite and terrestrial system applications. He has participated as a partner and Principal Investigator (PI) in 7 European, 12 Greek, and 15 Canadian projects, with a total budget of more than 3M€, funded by the European Commission, European Space Agency (ESA) and the Greek and Canadian government. These include SatNEx and SatNEx-II, which were funded by the EC, SatNEx-III and OFDM Technique for Broadband Satellite Systems funded by the European Space Agency, Sensor Networks and MIMO Studies funded by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology (GRST), Greece.
